Saskatchewan had a memorable last day of winter on Friday when 16 communities recorded new daily warm temperature records.
March 19 featured unseasonably warm temperatures which reached all the way in the 20 Celsius range in Saskatchewan according to information posted by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Swift Current reached a new March 19 high of 19.6 Celsius to easily break the previous mark of 16.9 Celsius set in 2001. It also stands as the warmest March 19 in Swift Current since weather records have been kept dating back to 1885.
Also in the region, Assiniboia posted a new record of 21.4 Celsius, easily outdistancing the previous mark of 16.5 set in 2001. Lucky Lake also reached the 20.0 Celsius mark to break their previous mark of 17.2 set in 2001.
The prairie provinces basked in a last day of winter warm up, with Alberta setting 10 new daily highs, and Manitoba posted seven new records.
