The Swift Current 16U Female Black Junior SunDogs won 12 straight sets to bring home gold from a tournament in Regina over the weekend.
The SunDogs, coached by Shawn Hiebert, Travis Kelln, and Darren Lehman, held four opponents to less than 20 points over eight sets on Saturday. They defeated Nipawin’s JBH Strikers (25-19, 25-6), Arcola’s SE Vipers (25-16, 25-15), the host QCVC Royal White (25-10, 25-10) and the JCVC Red (25-14, 25-14).
Sunday, they edged the Kipling Ambush 26-24 and 25-13 in the semi-final and then disposed of the QCVC Royal Purple in the championship match (25-18, 25-13).
