The Swift Current Kal Tire 57’s opened the Saskatchewan Premier 18U AAA Baseball League regular season with a pair of road wins over the host Sask Five Marlins on Sunday.
They won the opener 10-1 when two pitchers held the Marlins at bay. Kyrell Adair earned the win as he allowed five hits, one walk, and one run, while striking out nine over four innings. Quinn Bolton added three scoreless innings, striking out two along the way.
Hudson Unger led the 57’s with three hits, including a triple. He stole one base, scored twice, and added two runs batted in. Bolton added a triple and two RBIs.
Aidan Robinson tripled, singled, scored, and knocked on run home.
The 57’s followed up with a 15-4 win. Jase Johnson struck out eight over five innings as he allowed one earned run on four hits without allowing a walk.
Ty Switzer singled twice, scored, and had four RBIs in the win. Unger singled, tripled, scored, and added three RBIs.
Adair, Bolton, Mason Fauser, Keegan Kristmanson, and Robinson all scored twice in the runaway win.
The 57’s will host the East Central Red Sox on Saturday at 3 p.m. They will also host the Moose Jaw Canucks on Sunday for a double header beginning at 12 p.m.
