Williamsons win Herbert Stampede events

The Williamson family won a pair of events at the Herbert Stampede on July 31 – August 2.

Mankota’s Shawn Williamson was at the top of the leaderboard in Tie Down Roping in 9.1 seconds for $1,474 at the Canadian Cowboys Association event. Consul’s Braden Brost tied for fifth in 12.0 seconds for $609.

Mankota’s Kiera Williamson added a win in Ladies Breakaway Roping in 2.9 second for $2,225.

Waldeck’s Tyce McLeod and Grady Quam (Crossfield, AB) won Team Roping in 5.2 seconds for $3,726. Shamrock’s Kevin Turner and Kent Drake (Moose Jaw) were sixth in 7.3 seconds for $1,296. Tanner Lockie (Balgonie) and Hazenmore’s Ben Switzer finished seventh in 7.5 seconds for $810. Tyler Kmita (Weyburn) and Hodgeville’s Ryan Stolson rounded out the money winners in eighth spot in 7.6 seconds for $324.

Swift Current’s Jhett Tuplin placed third in Junior Steer Riding with 70 points on Alimony for $261. Maple Creek’s Paden Robertson was fourth with 69 points for $130. Gunner Armstrong (Shellbrook) won the event with a 73.5-point ride.

Stewart Valley’s Austynn Knudsen was third in Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 15.43 seconds for $297. Livi Cote (Yellow Grass) won the event in 15.33 seconds.

Chaplin’s Rhyker Vangen was third in Novice Saddle Bronc with 58 points for $219. Ken Coleman (Gympie, QLD) won the event with 72 points.

Maple Creek’s Sayge Turcato finished fifth in Ladies Barrel Racing in 15.31 seconds for a $1,027 payday. Maple Creek’s Janae Wilson finished eighth in 15.37 seconds for $186. Chloe Woods (Moosomin) won the event in 15.11 seconds.

The CCA is back in the Southwest this weekend for the Kyle Community Rodeo on Saturday and Sunday.
