The Swift Current 15U AAA 57’s won two of three league games in Meadow Lake over the weekend.
Saturday, the 57’s won both games over the host North West Sun Devils.
They won the opener 14-3 when all 10 batters scored at least one run. They opened the game with seven runs in the first inning and closed it with a six-run fifth inning.
Ben Reiter led the 57’s with two singles, a stolen base, one run scored, and three runs batted in. Tucker Paul added a single, two walks, a stolen base, one run scored, and two RBI’s. Ryden Getz doubled, walked twice, and scored three runs.
Jacoby Patzer earned the win as he held the Sun Devils to four hits while striking out four over 4.1 innings. Reiter got the final two outs to close out the win.
The 57’s followed up with an 11-6 win when they scored in five of seven innings. They were out-hit 9-8, but took advantage of five errors and 10 walks.
Lincoln Green doubled twice, walked twice, stole a base, and scored four runs from the leadoff spot. Ethan Poirier walked twice, stole a base, scored, and finished with three RBI’s. Cole Soos singled, doubled, scored twice, and knocked him two runs. Patzer singled, doubled, stole a base, scored twice, and knocked home one run.
Sunday, the 57’s knocked out 16 hits, but were defeated 18-14. Patzer had three doubles, a stolen base, two runs scored, and three RBI’s. Jett Girodat singled, tripled, and had one RBI. Poirier singled, walked, stole a base, scored three runs, and knocked home one run. He also pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing only one hit while striking out a pair.
The 15U AAA 57’s sat fifth in the 14-team Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League with a 9-5-0 record. They will return to action on June 16 when they visit the Saskatoon Astros for a double header at Nutana Kiwanis Park.
