Wills wins MJT stop in Swift Current

Kyle’s Chloe Wills won another Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour event close to home with a seven-shot victory over three rounds at the Elmwood Golf Course on May 16-18.

Wills opened with a 74 on day one, before dipping to an 86 on Sunday. She took the lead back on Monday with a 77 to clinch the win out of 15 golfers in the 15-19 Girls Division. Swift Current’s Kayden Meyer finished 13th with rounds of 108, 98, and 109. Swift Current’s Hailey Bollinger was 14th with rounds of 111, 105, and 101.

Swift Current’s Jace Munro placed seventh in the Bantam Boys Division. He carded rounds of 84, 79, and 86. Melville’s Keaton Kreklewich won the event by five strokes (76-75-71). Swift Current’s Bentley Jensen was 10th with rounds of 107, 99, and 96. Maple Creek’s Lachlan Williams finished 11th with rounds of 105, 108, and 107. Swift Current’s Zac Weinbender placed 12th with rounds of 106, 108, and 107.

Swift Current’s Matty Schmiess was the top Southwest finisher in the Juvenile Boys Division. He placed eighth out of 42 golfers with rounds of 80, 78, and 72 as he improved on each day. Calgary’s Jeevin Dhaliwal won the event by three shots (76-73-72). Swift Current’s Max Gehl was tied for 19th with rounds of 81, 84, and 80. Kyle’s Jace Wills finished 25th with rounds of 82, 89, and 82. Swift Current’s Rhyker McMorris tied for 30th with rounds of 88, 86, and 91. Shaunavon’s Kellen Ross carded rounds of 89, 94, and 89 to tie for 34th in Juvenile Boys.

Swift Current’s Ayden Ross tied for eighth in Junior Boys with rounds of 75, 80, and 74 to finish 12 shots back of the leader. Ryan Mosher (Saskatoon) won the division by one stroke (74-72-71). Swift Current’s Ryder Woods was 26th with consistent rounds of 80, 81, and 82. Swift Current’s Nate Silbernagel followed in a tie for 30th with rounds of 81, 79, and 86.

The MJT Saskatchewan Tour will continue on June 13-14 in Humboldt.
