Southwest golfers battle the wind in Lloydminster

A handful of Southwest golfers battled through the wind on the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour at the Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre on May 31 – June 1.

Kyle’s Chloe Wills placed third out of 10 golfers in the 15-19 Girls Division at the MJT Zeal Series event. She fired rounds of 81 and 85 to finish eight shots back of Regina’s Tayla Perry (82-76).

Swift Current’s Max Gehl finished sixth in the 23-man Bantam Boys field. He shot an 82 on day one, followed by an 86 in the second round. Pilot Butte’s Austin Nesbitt won the division by 10 strokes (75-79). Gehl also won the Bomber LD Long Drive competition.

Swift Current’s Matty Schmiess tied for sixth in the Juvenile Boys Division. He shot rounds of 81 and 85 to finish only three shots behind Regina’s Kai Kriekle (82, 81). Kyle’s Jace Wills tied for 16th with rounds of 86 and 95.

The Jeff Chambers Golf Academy ran away with the Academy Points title with 1,200 points, well ahead of Cody Callaway Golf’s 765 points in second place. The Chambers Academy leads the 2025 Saskatchewan Academy Points Rankings with 4,417.5 points, just ahead of Jonas Golf Academy with 4,325 points.

A Mini Tour event was also held in Lloydminster and Herbert’s Jameson Fox won the Boys 8U Division by 14 strokes with a 117.

Maple Creek’s Lachlan Williams was fourth in the Boys 11-12 Division with a 98, followed closely by Consul’s Sammie Seifert with a 99 in fifth spot.

The next MJT stop in Saskatchewan will be June 28-29 at the Tor Hill Golf Club in Regina.
