The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats were unable to pick up any points during a two-game road trip to Prince Albert in the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League.
Saturday, the Wildcats lost 5-2 to the host Bears. Sara Kendall scored in the first period to tie the game 1-1. Prince Albert scored the next four goals before Crystal Wale notched a shorthanded goal in the third period. Taylor Lind assisted on both goals.
Harper Davey took the loss with 24 saves on 29 shots. Lexi Beuker earned the win with 24 saves for the Bears, who received goals from Jadyn Kushniruk, Rhea Peterson, Paris Oleksyn, Kailey Ledoux, and Kate Ball.
Sunday, the Wildcats allowed four goals in the first period on their way to a 9-1 loss. Maddy McCleary scored the only goal with assists from Lind and Brooklyn Rublee. Amaya Giraudier made 22 saves in the loss.
Scout Anderson stopped 29 of 30 shots for the Bears, who got goals from seven different skaters, including a hat trick from Ball.
The Wildcats dropped to 3-6-0-1, while the Bears improved to 6-4-1-1 to sit third in the SFMAAAHL.
The Wildcats will play a home-and-away set against the Notre Dame Hounds next weekend. They host the Hounds on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. at Fairview West Arena. They return the visit on Sunday.
