The Kyle Rodeo on August 11-12 was a friendly spot for rough stock competitors from the Southwest.
Local competitors won all three rough stock events during the two day Canadian Cowboys’ Association rodeo. And, ironically, all three posted 79 point rides to top their events.
Jeremy Dillon from Swift Current won the saddle bronc event aboard Aimes No Change to win $469. Consul’s Monty Koopman was best in the bareback competition with a $540 winning ride aboard Search Light. Chanse Switzer from Hazenmore had one of just two qualified rides in the bull riding event, taking home $945 for his winning ride on Captain.
Tie Down Ropers also had a good showing in Kyle, taking three of the top six spots. Blaine Switzer from Swift Current was fastest in 10.2 seconds. Keith Folk of Swift Current captured fourth in 11.8 seconds, while Stewart Valley’s Aaron Moen placed sixth in 13.3 seconds.
