The Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new top officer after Chief Executive Officer Clayton Wicks resigned from his position this past week.
The Chamber’s Board of Directors announced Wicks’ resignation on Friday, and his departure comes less than three months after the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting on March 29.
Wicks had served at the helm of the Chamber since October 2015.
The Chamber Board is quickly beginning the search for a replacement, and in the coming days they will be issuing a Request for Proposals for this contract position.
“The Board appreciates Clayton’s work as CEO over the past 18 months and we acknowledge his involvement as a past Director on the Board,” Chamber Board Chair Brock Friesen stated in a press release. “We wish Clayton well in his future endeavours.”
The Chamber has hosted a pair of successful events during the early portion of 2017, the sold-out Farmer’s Appreciation Night held in March and the recent Chamber on Tap event at the Saskatchewan Abilities Council was the highest attended Chamber networking event this year.
“The Chamber has worked hard this year to raise the organization’s visibility in the business community and increase the value our members receive,” noted Friesen.
The Chamber is currently preparing for their next Chamber on Tap, and that July 5 event at the Newcomer Welcome Centre will include an announcement regarding the new nomination process for the Swift Current Business Excellence Awards.
The daily operations of the Chamber will be overseen on an interim basis by the Board of Directors Executive Committee along with Executive Assistant, Mike Rogowski.
