Five members of the Swift Current Innovation Credit UnionU18 AAA Wildcats have been selected for Saskatchewan’s U18 team to participate in the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island.
Goaltender Paige Fischer is one of two goaltenders on Team Saskatchewan. The Rosetown product has a 5-2-0 record with a 1.86 goals against average and a .934 save percentage in her first season with the Wildcats.
Wildcats captain Caitlyn Perlinger will patrol the Team Saskatchewan blueline. The Kindersley product has three goals and seven assists in 14 league games with the Wildcats this season
Three Wildcats forwards will suit up for Team Sask at the Winter Games. Gull Lake’s Sadie Keller will be among the Saskatchewan forwards next year. She leads the Wildcats with 12 assists and 18 points in 14 league games.
Lafleche’s Jerzey Watteyne will also represent her province. The third-year Wildcat leads the team with 10 goals and is second with 16 points in 14 games this season
Rosetown’s Ella Wingert will take her two-way game to the Canada Games. The third-year forward has four assists in 14 games this season.
Also on the Team Sask blueline will be Meyronne’s Julianne Girardin. The Weyburn Goldwings defenseman has two goals and three assists in 14 games during her third season in Weyburn.
Female hockey will take place from Feb. 27 to March 5 in the second half of the Games.
