Legionnaires selected for Canada Games roster

Four members of the Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires will represent Saskatchewan at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island.

Gull Lake’s Berney Weston will backstop Saskatchewan at the Games after an impressive start to his U18 AAA career. The Swift Current Broncos prospect boasts a 12-0-0-1 record with a 2.07 goals against average and a .929 save percentage.

Joining him will be fellow Broncos prospect Parker Rondeau. The rookie forward from Swift Current has eight goals and 14 assists in 20 games with the Legionnaires this season.

Joining Rondeau amongst the Saskatchewan forward ranks will be Cobe and Cam Perlinger. The twin brothers from Kindersley are tied for second on the team with nine goals each. Cobe leads the team with 19 assist and 28 points, while Cam is second with 17 assists and 26 points.

Male ice hockey will take place from Feb. 18-25 in the second half of the Games.

The Legionnaires are currently second in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League with a 16-3-0-1 as they ride a 10-game winning streak.

They will host the Battlefords Stars (4-14-0-1) on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 1:45 p.m. at the InnovationPlex.
