Five Swift Current United Soccer Club teams were in action at FCR Winterfest in Regina over the weekend.
The U15 United girls won three of four matches to claim silver in Regina. They defeated FCR Juventus 4-0 on Friday. Saturday, they downed Saskatoon Hollandia 6-2 and FCR Dash 5-0. The U15 United Girls, playing with no subs, dropped the championship match 2-1 to Saskatoon’s SUSC Brighton on Sunday.
The U13 Boys also won silver with three wins, one draw, and a loss. They opened the tournament with a 6-1 win over the FCR Wanderers on Friday. They tied QC United Green 2-2 and then defeated the Wanderers 6-1 again on Saturday. The U13 Boys defeated QC United Green 3-1 in a semi-final rematch before dropping the championship match 3-1 to Saskatoon’s Eastside United.
The U13 United girls brought home silver after winning their opening three matches. They defeated SUSC Everton 5-0, QC United 3-0, and FCR Fury 3-2. They concluded the round robin with a 3-1 loss to Hollandia and then lost 3-1 to Hollandia again in the championship rematch.
The U11 Boys also won three matches in Regina, while the U11 Girls tied three matches while playing in Division One.
