Legionnaires lose twice to league leading Wildcats

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires were unable to find an answer for the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League leading Warman Wildcats in a pair of home losses over the weekend.

Saturday, the Legionnaires lost 4-1 to the visiting Wildcats. Matt Ripplinger scored the lone goal in the third period with assists from Theodore McGuire and Hudson Darby. Liam Ernst took the loss with 41 saves on 44 shots.

Lucky Lake’s Jaydon Jessiman, Jordan Normand, Brody Mortensen, and Mason Bueckert scored for the Wildcats.

Sunday, the Legionnaires lost 5-1 on a lone goal from Josh Heistad with an assist from Phoenix LaRose. Brayden Schenstead took the loss with 33 saves.

Jessiman led the Wildcats with two goals and one assist, while Swift Current’s Rhett Dekowny registered a goal and two assists. Luke Brunen earned the win with 17 saves.

The Legionnaires finished the week with a 14-16-0-4 record in eighth spot in the 12-team league.

The Legionnaires will host the Regina Pat Canadians on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.
