U13 AA Broncos place second at 32-team Regina Pats Classic

The Swift Current U13 AA Southwest Terminal Broncos won five of six games to place second out of 32 teams at the Regina Pats U13 Classic over the weekend.

The Broncos opened the tournament with an 8-1 win over the Regina Buffalos. Taye Silbernagel paced the Broncos with a hat trick, while Hunter Wilm registered two goals and one assist. Jake Hargrave and Kasey Gleim each contributed one goal and one assist, while Kyle Duclos added two assists, and Alex Erickson also scored.

Jaxson Squires, Kadyn Olfert, Dane Irwin, Carter Moen, and Tyson Kobley all added single helpers.

The U13 Broncos followed up with a 5-1 win over the Saskatoon Kodiaks, led by a hat trick from Gleim and a goal and two assists from Jamie Kirwan. Hargrave also scored. Moen picked up a pair of assists, while Kobley, Kyron Watson, Wilm, and Squires all added single assists.

The Broncos wrapped up top spot in the Mike Sillinger Pool with a 7-1 win over the Spruce Grove Saints. Wilm and Gleim each scored twice, Hargrave and Kyron Watson each added a goal and an assist, and Silbernagel added one goal. Seth Watson registered three assists, Olfert and Silbernagel each picked up two assists, while Kobley, Kirwan, and Moen all added singles.

The Broncos faced the NW Calgary Bruins in the quarter-final on Saturday afternoon and advanced with a 7-2 win as they held the Bruins without a shot in the first period and to only two shots on goal in the third period. Hudson Rijvers earned the win with nine saves. Seth Watson registered three assists, Gleim and Wilm each scored twice, and Hargrave and Kyron Watson each had a goal and an assist. Olfert and Squires each chipped in two assists. Silbernagel also scored, while Kirwan, Moen, and Kobley all added single helpers.

The Broncos followed up with a 9-2 win over the Tisdale Ramblers in the semi-final. Cade Mitchell earned the win with 22 saves. Gleim led the Broncos with three goals and two assists. Kirwan and Moen each finished with a goal and two assists, while Irwin racked up three assists.

Duclos scored twice, Hargave registered a goal and an assist, while Squires and Silbernagel both picked up two assists. Olfert also scored, while Seth Watson, Kyron Watson, and Wilm added single helpers.

The Broncos dropped the final 6-4 to the Martensville Marauders. Mitchell made 26 saves in a losing cause. Moen scored twice and Kirwan added a goal and an assist. Olfert also scored, while Hargrave, Gleim, Kobley, and Wilm picked up assists.

The Broncos will return to league action on Tuesday against the Weyburn Wings at 5:45 p.m. at Fairview East Arena.
