Parker Rondeau scored six goals to lead the Swift Current Pure Chem Broncos to a pair of home wins in the Saskatchewan U15 AA Hockey League over the weekend.
Saturday, Rondeau posted a natural hat trick in the first period to lead the Broncos to a 7-1 win over the visiting Weyburn Wings.
Rondeau scored the first four goals of the game during a five-point outing. Wesley Olson followed with two goals and one assist, while Jace Egland and Griffin Darby both added two assists. Chase Petersen also scored, while Blake Girard, Sam Kirwan, Dylan Gedny, and Kai Packet all added assists. Conner Bender made 31 saves in the win.
Sunday, Rondeau scored both goals in a 2-1 overtime win over the visiting Saskatoon Outlaws.
The Broncos trailed in the second period before Rondeau scored to tie the game. He scored his 13th goal of the season 1:42 into overtime to seal the win. Egland assisted on both goals, while Olson and Darby added single helpers. Berney Weston earned the win with 31 saves.
The Broncos continue to lead the South Division with an 8-3-1-1 record. The Outlaws were second in the North Division with an 8-0-0-2 mark.
The U15 AA Broncos will host their annual home tournament this weekend. The tournament has been renamed the 1st Annual Peyton Keller Memorial U15 AA Tournament after the young Broncos defenseman passed away in an accident on September 25.
The Broncos will open the 10-team event on Friday at 1:15 p.m. against the Notre Dame Hounds. The Broncos will also face the NEBC Trackers at 8 p.m. on Friday. The Broncos will conclude the round robin on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. against the West Central Wheat Kings.
The gold medal game is set for Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Fairview West Arena.
