RCMP have one male in custody while investigating potential threats made towards SCCHS

Swift Current Municipal RCMP have taken a male into custody in connection to a report of potential threats made towards the Swift Current Comprehensive High School.

After receiving a message before the start of classes this morning, SCCHS administration contacted the RCMP and both SCCHS and nearby O.M. Irwin School both went into “Hold and Secure” mode.

RCMP officers attended to the area at approximately 8:40 a.m. to ensure public safety. A male was subsequently located at a different location and taken into custody without incident.

No charges have been laid. The investigation is ongoing and it is believed there is no further danger to the public.

Swift Current Rural RCMP, Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Swift Current Police Dog Services are assisting in this investigation.
