Priebe wins Shining Star Award

Special Olympics Swift Current’s Rahimay Priebe was recognized during the 2020 Special Olympics Saskatchewan awards, which were held virtually on October 8.

Priebe was the recipient of the Shining Star Award, which was presented to a Special Olympics Saskatchewan athlete who best exemplified the spirit of Special Olympics over the past year through their displays of sportsmanship, striving spirit, continuous effort, positive attitude, and courtesy to their fellow athletes.

Rahimay Priebe

This was Rahimay’s first year with Special Olympics and she was very excited to start in both the swimming and basketball programs. She had a 100 percent attendance in both programs and always came with a positive attitude, ready to compete and encouraged her teammates.

Rahimay blossomed this season with independence, taking responsibility for her training, and was always willing to swim in new and challenging events. Her confidence grew from being shy to loving to laugh and challenge anyone to a race in the pool or shooting on the court. Rahimay was always driven to work hard and learn new skills to become a better athlete.
