The Swift Current Home Hardware were swept out of the second round of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs with a 4-3 loss in Wilcox Thursday.
The Notre Dame Hounds scored twice on a four-minute power play early in the third period to turn a 3-2 Swift Current lead into a 4-3 Hounds’ lead. Swift Current Broncos’ prospect Nolan Renwick scored twice for the Hounds, while Quinn Schmiemann and Ryker Evans also scored.
Jacob Piller, Rin Beny, and Lucas Ochitwa all scored for the Legionnaires. Jerzy Orchard, Kersey Reich, Ty Muench, Mkyllan Couture, and Owen Ozar all picked up assists in the season finale.
The Legionnaires had finished fifth in the regular season with a 26-13-1-4 record and then defeated the Tisdale Trojans for their first playoff series win in well over a decade.
The Hounds improved to 6-0 in the post-season after posting a 39-2-1-2 record in the regular season.
