The Swift Current Broncos scored on the power play, at even strength, on a penalty shot, at four-on-four, and twice while shorthanded during an 8-0 win over the host Edmonton Oil Kings Sunday.
Captain Glenn Gawdin scored twice in the win during a four-point afternoon. He passed Bryan Trottier for sixth on the franchise all-time scoring list with a penalty shot goal, his 302nd career point and then added a shorthanded goal in the second period. Gawdin extended his league leading point streak to 22 games with 44 points since Jan. 7. He currently leads the WHL with 117 points.
Tyler Steenbergen also scored twice and now has 43 goals on the season. Beck Malenstyn added a shorthanded goal in the third period during a four-point outing.
Matteo Gennaro opened the scoring during a two-point outing. Defensemen Sahvan Khaira and Connor Horning also scored.
Stuart Skinner improved to 13-3-1-0 since joining the Broncos with 20 saves for his sixth shutout of the season overall.
The Broncos remain two points back of the Moose Jaw Warriors for first place in the Western Hockey League with a 44-14-4-1 record. Edmonton remains last in the Eastern Conference with an 18-36-6-2 record.
The Broncos are in Calgary Tuesday to face the Hitmen.
