SWAC held its District Golf Championship on Thursday in Shaunavon and the top four male and female golfers qualified for the SHSAA Provincial Championship in Humboldt.
Swift Current’s Matty Schmiess took top spot in the boys side out of 45 golfers with a 71 for a nine-shot win.
Jace Munro grabbed second spot for the SCCHS Colts with an 80 while Hodgeville’s Kyron also carded an 80. The fourth and final spot was decided in a playoff when Swift Current’s Carter Broccolo and Nixon Friesen and Shaunavon’s Kellen Ross all carded 84s before Broccolo won the playoff.
The girls division featured eight golfers and Eastend’s Claire Topham won by one shot with an 86. Swift Current’s Hailey Bollinger and Kayden Meyer took the next two spots with 87s. Eastend’s Jane Topham grabbed the final spot at Provincials with a 98.
