Knutson wins SJHL title with Bombers

Swift Current’s Ryder Knutson helped the Flin Flon Bombers end a lengthy Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League championship drought.

The Bombers swept the Yorkton Terriers in four games to claim their first league championship since 1993. They closed out the series with a 2-0 win on Thursday.

The Bombers will now represent the SJHL at the 2026 Centennial Cup in Summerside, PEI. The 10-team tournament begins on May 7.

Knutson and the Bombers allowed only six goals in four games against the highest scoring team in the regular season. Charlie Tritt made 25 saves in the final game as he finished the playoffs with a 2.14 goals against average and a .940 save percentage, including three shutouts.

Knutson finished the playoffs with two goals and six assists in 14 playoff games.

Former Swift Current Broncos defenseman Sam Ward also patrolled the Bombers blueline. He finished with two goals in three playoff games.
