SHSAA PROVINCIAL WRESTLING
Swift Current sent 18 wrestlers to provincials in Saskatoon and Gull Lake sent one wrestler. The format was a true double knock out.
SWAC was well represented by these two teams. They combined to win five medals at the championship. The SCCHS male wrestlers finished tied for third in the male team category. Congratulations to all athletes from both schools and their coaches.

SHSAA SENIOR BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS
The first round of high school provincial basketball playoffs started this past weekend for some of our SWAC teams. In some classifications, there was no need to host conferences and teams advanced straight to regionals.
Herbert hosted a 1A boys conference championship that also included Gull Lake and Frontier teams in the tournament. Thanks to commissioner Frank Meyers and Herbert School for hosting.
Gull Lake lost to Frontier (76-69) and were eliminated from further competition. Frontier lost to Eston in the semi-final (100-59) and their season came to an end.
Herbert had a first round bye, then defeated Eatonia in the semi-final (83-75). They faced Eston in the Conference Final, but lost 104-72. By placing second, Herbert will still advance to regional playoffs.
In 2A boys, Leader and Vanguard were in Dalmeny. Both teams suffered first round losses and didn’t advance in the tournament. Leader lost to Saskatoon Christian School (122-35) and Vanguard lost to host Dalmeny (91-38).
Shaunavon and Maple Creek boys were in Assiniboia for their 3A boys conference playoff. Both teams won their first round games. Shaunavon won over Moose Jaw Cornerstone (77-52) and Maple Creek defeated Gravelbourg (82-53). In the conference semi-finals, they came up against two very strong teams. Briercrest Christian Academy beat Maple Creek (87-50) and Shaunavon lost to host Assiniboia (77-44).
3A Shaunavon girls were also in Assiniboia. They lost a heartbreakingly close opening game to Briercrest Christian Academy (46-41) and were eliminated from the tournament.
SHSAA Regional tournaments for 1A boys Herbert, 1A girls Herbert, 5A girls SCCHS, 5A boys SCCHS will be on March 20-21. Winning a 1A-3A regional books your team a ticket to HOOPLA (SHSAA provincial championship).
Commissioner Phil Braun and the SCCHS Colts will host the 5A boys rural regional tournament (the top three teams there advance to HOOPLA).
