The Swift Current Broncos earned their first shootout win of the season on Saturday when they defeated the visiting Kamloops Blazers 3-2.
Joey Rocha stopped all three Blazers shooters and reigning WHL Player of the Week Noah Kosick scored the only goal in the shootout.
Rocha made 32 saves on 34 shots over 65 minutes to improve to 6-1-0-0 this season.
The Broncos trailed early when Josh Evaschen scored 23 seconds into regulation. Kosick scored 55 seconds later to tie the game, his fourth goal of the season. Tommy Lafreniere replied midway through the period for a 2-1 Blazers lead after one period.
Jace McFaul scored a power play goal in the third period to send the game to overtime.
Logan Edmonstone made 33 saves for the Blazers in front of 2,204 fans at the InnovationPlex.
The Broncos scored on their only power play and killed off both Kamloops man-advantages.
The Broncos improved to 6-3-0-0, while Kamloops moved to 5-5-0-1.
The Broncos will host the Red Deer Rebels (2-8-0-0) on Wednesday.
