The Swift Current Broncos announced a trade on Thursday to bring local forward Hudson Darby back home.

The 2006-born forward appeared in 118 regular season games over the past three seasons in Portland, totalling 16 goals, 16 assists, and 82 penalty minutes. He also had eight points in 33 playoff games.

“It took me by surprise,” he admitted. “It was not something I seen coming. I was getting ready to leave for Portland the next day and I just heard from Portland that something is going on and it would be better to stay at home. I didn’t know what was happening at that point, but when I heard it was Swift I was pretty excited.”

“We are excited to add Hudson to our organization,” said Broncos General Manager Chad Leslie. “We feel he will be a tremendous addition to our young group. He competes, has high-end character and will help provide leadership and culture to the young core we are building. We are happy to welcome him back home.”

Headed the other way is 2010-born defenseman Easton Dozark. The 6’1’’ blueliner was selected 13th overall in the 2025 U.S. Priority Draft.
