The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires won both Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League games in Estevan over the weekend.
Friday, the Legionnaires defeated the Bears 6-5 in a shootout. Kade Stringer and Jace Egland both scored in the shootout, while Berney Weston turned aside both Bears.
Stringer scored twice in regulation, while Mason Fauser and Egland each added a goal and an assist. Connor Rieger and Sam Kirwan both had two-assist performances. Parker Rondeau also scored. Keegan Nash, Tristan Mitchell-Mcelhone, and Kai Packet all added assists. Weston made 33 saves over 65 minutes.
Evhan Allan, Cooper Flath, Roan Burgess, Thomas Ries, and Talen Wallis all scored for the home team. Kaden Perron took the loss with 21 saves.
Saturday, the Legionnaires followed up with a 5-0 victory as Jacob Morris made 33 saves in the shutout.
Egland paced the attack with one goal and three assists, followed by one goal and one assist from Kayd Ruedig and two assists from Stringer.
Rondeau, Nash, and Sam Kirwan also scored. Porter Nickason and Packet added assists.
Cole Ivey took the loss with 21 saves.
The Legionnaires (5-2-0) will host their home opener on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. against the Saskatoon Contacts. The rematch will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the InnovationPlex.
