A total of five Southwest golfers took part in the 2021 SHSAA Golf Provincial Championship in Rosthern on Friday and Saturday.
Kyle’s Chloe Wills tied for fifth in the girls division. She carded a 90 on day one and then trimmed four strokes for an 86 on day two. Swift Current’s Ashlynn Meyer turned in rounds of 119 and 108.
Yorkton’s Ella Kozak won the girls provincial championship by 22 strokes with rounds of 78 and 70.
Frontier’s Cashton Carleton was the top Southwest finisher on the boys side. He tied for eighth spot, 16 shots off the lead. Carleton opened with a round of 78 and then carded an 80 on day two.
Swift Current’s Makstr McIntyre wasn’t far behind with rounds of 83 and 79. Teammate Ayden Ross shot identical rounds of 87 at the two-day event.
Estevan’s Ryan Chernoff won Provincials by seven strokes with a 74 on day one, followed by a tournament low 68 on day two.
South West finished seventh in the boys district team competition with a total of 494.
