The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League held it’s draft on Tuesday and four different Southwest players were selected.
Gull Lake’s Carter Bleau was the only local player selected in the two rounds of the 2011-Born Draft. He was selected 19th overall by the Melville Millionaires. Bleau had 11 goals and 11 assists in 21 games on the Swift Current U15 AA Broncos’ blue line this season.
Three Southwest players were selected in the 2010-Born Draft. Swift Current’s Dane Irwin was drafted 29th overall by the Estevan Bruins. He had two goals and 10 assists in 21 games with the SAHA U17 Prep team in the CSSHL this season.
Shaunavon’s Benson Wallis was selected 46th overall by the Humboldt Broncos. He had 22 goals and 14 assists in 36 games with the Swift Current U18 AA Broncos this past season.
Gull Lake’s Josh Benjamin was drafted 54th overall by the Melville Millionaires. He finished 10-4-3 with the Swift Current U18 AAA Legionnaires in 2025-26.
