The Swift Current Home Legionnaires edged the visiting Estevan Bears 5-4 on Thursday to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five playoff series.
Trae Peterson scored the only goal of the third period to break a 4-4 deadlock. The home team has now won all three games in the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League playoff series.
Cade Mitchell earned the win with 37 saves. Peterson also had an assist, while Hunter Wilm and Kasey Gleim had two-assist outings. Jake Hargrave, Hudson Postnikoff, Mason Fauser, and Porter Nickason also scored. Ryder Leshures, Carter Schmidt, Kyler Bilokreli, Jaxson Squires, and Ryder Wilm all added assists.
Evan Hutcheon made 31 saves for the Bears. Brendan Jones, Rhett Amberson, Van Huber, and Bostin Schmidt scored in the loss.
Game four will be Saturday in Estevan. Game five would be Sunday back in Swift Current.
