Legionnaires suffer first playoff lost

Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires

The Swift Current Home Legionnaires lost 8-6 to the host Estevan Bears on Tuesday. The loss tied the best-of-five series at 1-1 in the opening round of the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League playoffs.

The Legionnaires led 2-1 after one period, but were outscored 3-0 in the second period and they were never able to draw even. 

Kasey Gleim led the Legionnaires with three goals and two assists, followed by one goal and three assists from Hunter Wilm. Porter Nickason added two goals and one assist, while defenseman Jake Hargrave registered three assists. Riley Schmiess and Mason Fauser added assists. Cade Mitchell took the loss with 38 saves. 

Brendan Jones and Ethan Boehm both scored twice for the Bears. Gunner Moore, Joe Watson, Van Huber, and Boston Schmidt also scored. 

Game three will be Thursday back in Swift Current.
