Jr Colts win twice

The Swift Current Comp. Junior Red Colts basketball team finished with a 2-1 record at the Kruppi Classic in Balgonie on Feb. 6-7. 

The Colts lost their opening game 79-72 to the Moose Jaw Vanier Vikings when the Vikings knocked down 14 three-pointers. Gradyn Jackson led the Colts with 19 points, Jack Thomson added 17 points, and Connor Letkeman was named the Game MVP. 

The Colts combined transition scoring with strong defence to outscore the host Greenall Griffins 88-39 in the opening half of a 102-47 win. Game MVP Calum Shea scored 20 points and Reuben Kimball added 19 points. 

The Junior Red Colts closed out the weekend with a 96-58 win over the Estevan Elecs as they combined inside scoring with three-point shooting. Kimball scored 18 points and Finn Ostrander was named Game MVP as the Colts improved to 9-8 on the season. 

The Colts will host a home tournament on Feb. 27-28 with the Junior Colts Blue, Estevan, and Weyburn in attendance.
