Ardens win windy regional title

The Swift Current Comp. Ardens won both games at SHSAA 5A Girls Soccer Regionals in Yorkton on Saturday to advance to Provincials.

The Ardens clinched their spot at Provincials with an 8-0 victory over the host Yorkton Regional Raiders. Kira Gatzke scored twice and Rowan Robinson added a goal and an assist in the win. Rory Williams earned the clean sheet.

Naimy Regier, Luxin Hamilton, Samantha Schmidt, Elizabeth Metke, and Tienna Reinhart also scored. Hailey Langager assisted on two goals, while Mackenna Striker added one assist.

The Ardens clinched their first regional title since 2022 with an 8-1 victory over the Weyburn Eagles. The Ardens battled through the wind to score the opening eight goals as Williams earned the win in goal.

Regier ran through the defense for three goals, while Robinson and Gatzke both added two goals and one assist. Langager registered one goal and one assist. Lauren Hanson, Metke, and Hamilton all added assists.

The Ardens will open provincials in Saskatoon on Friday against the second seeded team from Saskatoon.
