The SWAC Bantam Track and Field Meet was held in Swift Current on May 21.
All Saints Catholic School’s Luxin Hamilton won the Grade Eight Female aggregate title with 36 points, followed by Mya Dowdswell (Fairview) with 34 points and Emmerson Wiens (Ecole Centennial) with 32 points.
Hamilton won the 100 Metre Dash in 13.19 seconds. She also won the 200 Metres in 27.47 seconds and the 400 Metres in 1:06.55. Hamilton placed third in Triple Jump at 9.52 metres.
Waldeck’s Calum Shea and Ecole Centennial’s Damon James tied for top spot in the Grade Eight Male aggregate title race with 32 points apiece. Reese Ehrman (Leader) and Ari Parmar (All Saints) tied for second with 30 points.
Shea won the 100 Metre Dash in 12.72 seconds and the 200 Metres in 26.72 seconds. He was also second in the High Jump after clearing the bar at 1.55 metres and fourth in the 400 Metres in 1:09.67.
James won the Triple Jump with a 10.13-metre effort and the Discus Throw with a heave of 29.69 metres. He was also second in the 100 Metres in 12.97 seconds and fourth in the Long Jump at 4.59 Metres.
Irwin’s Claire Metke won the Grade Seven Female title with 28 points. Alli Packet (All Saints) was second with 25 points, followed by Kysa Getzinger (Waldeck) and Jordis Chandler (Ecole Centennial) with 24 points apiece.
Metke won the 100 Metre Dash in 14.19 seconds and the 200 Metre Dash in 29.84 seconds. She was also second in the Triple Jump at 7.79 metres.
Central School’s Khaizer Magtoto and Fairview’s Chad Logan tied for first in the Grade Seven Male aggregate standings with 28 points each. Fairview’s Jackson Simpson was third with 26 points.
Magtoto won the 100 Metre Dash in 13.03 seconds. He was also third in the 200 Metre Dash in 28.81 seconds, High Jump at 1.25 Metres, and Shot Put at 9.66 metres.
Logan won the 400 Metres in 1:01.52 and the 800 metres in 2:23.00. He was also second in the 100 Metres in 13.28 seconds.
Irwin’s Brooke Langager topped the Grade Six Female standings with 36 points. Allie Roberts (Maple Creek) and Brynn Bochek (Fairview) tied for second with 30 points each.
Langager won the 1,200 Metres in 4:30.93 and the 2,400 Metres in 9:37.53. She was also second in the 200 Metre Dash in 32.66 seconds and the 400 Metres in 1:18.00.
All Saints’ Hunter Schmidt was the only athlete to accumulate the maximum 40 points to win the Grade Six Male title. Timothy Munzara (All Saints) was second with 34 points, while Hudson Jahnke (Gull Lake) was third with 30 points.
Schmidt won the Triple Jump at 7.76 metres, Shot Put at 8.00 metres, Discus at 17.16 metres, and Javelin at 22.99 metres.
All Saints was the top school with 89 points, followed by Centennial with 76 points, and Fairview with 66 points. Frontier was the top 1A School with 22 points. Shaunavon was the top 2A school with 23 points, while Maple Creek was the top 3A school with five points.
The SWAC High School Meet will be held on May 28 in Swift Current.
