Brost wins Team Roping at Kinsmen Rodeo

The Southwest was well represented on the leaderboard at the Kinsmen Rodeo in North Battleford on April 25-27.

Consul’s Rylan Brost worked with Jesse Popescul (Glentworth) to win Team Roping at the Canadian Cowboys Association event in 5.4 seconds for $2,662. Waldeck’s Tyce McLeod and Brady Chappel (Moose Jaw) were close behind in 5.7 seconds in second spot for $2,203.

Beechy’s Allee Kapeller won Junior Girls Barrel Racing in 13.8 seconds for $648. Hazenmore’s Tess Switzer was second in 14.44 seconds for $486. Swift Current’s Maci Martens placed third in 14.54 seconds for $324.

Tyce McLeod also placed second in Tie Down Roping in 9.8 seconds for $669. Morse’s Tuftin McLeod was third in 9.9 seconds for $530. Lafleche’s Weston Packet was sixth in 12.4 seconds for $139. Owen Schauer (Halkirk, AB) won the event in 8.9 seconds.

Maple Creek’s Kahl Wasilow finished third in Bull Riding with 84 points on Axe Man for $786. Jace Beierbach (Whitewood) won the event with 87.5 points on Mad Hatter.

Maple Creek’s Tate Beierbach finished fifth in Steer Wrestling in 10.9 seconds for $259. Blair Whitfeld (Marwayne, AB) won the event in 5.4 seconds.

Hazenmore’s Barbara Switzer tied for seventh in Ladies Barrel Racing in 14.17 seconds for $198. Cassandra Peters (Elrose) won the event in 13.55 seconds.

Clay Greenslade (Rocky View County, AB) won Saddle Bronc with 77 points on Buttercup.

Jace Lomheim (Hughenden, AB) and Greenslade tied for the win in Bareback with 77 points on Scary Mary and Hazelcliff respectively.

Norquay’s Jack Korpusik won Novice Bareback with 70 points aboard Yellow Bomb.

Kacen Nowicki (Lac La Biche, AB) won Novice Saddle Bronc with 71 points on Copper Mine.

Hannah McCannell (Delisle) won Ladies Breakaway Roping in 2.3 seconds.

The Canadian Cowboys Association will be in Kindersley on May 29-31. The first CCA event in the Southwest will be June 7-8 in Lancer.
