Swift Current’s Scott Joseph made headlines in his debut with the University of Regina Cougars track and field team at the Larmer Friendship Games on Saturday.

The rookie athlete nailed a personal best 7.15 meter jump in long jump to qualify for the U Sports Championship in Edmonton in March.

He also won the 60-metre dash in 7.11 seconds and the 200-metre dash in 22.93 seconds at the Regina Fieldhouse.

Joseph is continuing an incredible 2019 that began with five medals and an aggregate title at SHSAA Provincials in Moose Jaw. He added a long jump record and a silver in triple jump with Team Saskatchewan at the Western Canadian Tri-Province Meet in Sherwood Park, AB in July. Joseph concluded the summer with gold in the triple jump and long jump and silver in the 4×100 metre relay on his home track at the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games in August.

Joseph’s next action with the Cougars will be the Sanderson Classic in Saskatoon on January 10-11, 2020.
