Wyrostok scores in Bronco debut

It was a memorable Western Hockey League debut for Caleb Wyrostok, but the Swift Current Broncos lost 3-1 to the host Edmonton Oil Kings on Wednesday.

Wyrostok scored in his first WHL game, a head-turning effort that was named WHL Highlight of the Night. The Medicine Hat native has 21 points and 69 penalty minutes in 13 games with the Northern Alberta X-Treme Prep this season. He was a ninth round pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.

Jake Neighbours, David Kope, and Riley Sawchuk all scored for the Oil Kings.

Isaac Poulter took the loss with 31 saves on 33 shots. Todd Scott made 15 saves in the win.

The Broncos fell to 6-20-1-2 with their seventh straight loss. The Oil Kings lead the WHL with a 20-6-5-2 record. The two teams will rematch Friday in Edmonton.
