Swift Current rink advances at Mixed Curling Nationals

The Swift Current rink representing Saskatchewan advanced to the championship pool at the 2020 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship with two wins on Wednesday.

Skip Shaun Meachem, third Kelly Schafer, second Chris Haichert, and lead Teejay Haichert are currently representing Saskatchewan in Saguenay, QC as they finished 4-2 in the round robin by winning their final three games after a 1-2 start.

They defeated Ontario 5-4 in the morning draw on Wednesday when they counted a single in the extra end. Saskatchewan closed out the round robin with a 9-2 win over Alberta

They had lost their opener 10-5 to Newfoundland and Labrador on Sunday evening. They rebounded on Monday to defeat Nunavut 7-3. The Meachem rink lost 9-5 on Tuesday morning to the Northwest Territories before defeating Nova Scotia 8-6 in the afternoon draw to open a three-game winning streak.

The Swift Current rink will face New Brunswick (5-1) in the championship pool on Thursday afternoon.
