The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats sit firmly atop the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League after a 4-3 shootout win over the visiting Regina Rebels on Sunday.
Cheyenne Jamieson made 29 saves and then stopped a pair of Rebels in the shootout, while Sara Kendall and Ashlee Wolfe both scored in the shootout to lift the Wildcats to their third win in as many days.
“It’s awesome,” said Kendall, who led the Wildcats with two goals and one assist. “It’s for sure been a long weekend, but we did all the right things. We did have a couple bad spells, but we found a way to gut it out, especially in our third game.”
Baylee Kirwan added a goal and an assist, while Brooklyn Rublee chipped in two assists as the Wildcats improved to 3-0-1-0. Kamryn Johnson and Kenedee Klevgaard picked up single helpers.
The Wildcats will return to league action on October 20 when they host the Saskatoon Stars again at 12:30 p.m. at Fairview Arena.
