The Swift Current Comp. Colts senior boys volleyball team already have a tournament title in their back pocket after winning Alberta gold over the weekend.
The Colts defeated the Thunderchild Thunder in three sets to win the Hat High Mohawks Classic on Saturday. Shaye Wall was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
The Colts finished second in their pool with a 3-1 record on Friday. Saturday, the Colts won matches over Hat High, McCoy, Catholic Central, and Thunderchild to reach the final.
“We had a lot of players step up with some crucial serving and attacks when we needed it the most in playoffs to get us to the finals,” noted first-year head coach Darren Lehmann.
The Colts will host their annual 15-team invitational tournament this weekend. They will open the tournament on Friday at 1:15 p.m. at O.M. Irwin School against the Fox Valley Legends. They will also face Birch Hills at 5:45 p.m. and Estevan at 8:45 p.m. at the Swift Current Comp. Gymnasium.
The championship match is set for Saturday at 6 p.m.
