Third-year Swift Current Broncos forward Ethan Regnier has been named the 32nd captain in franchise history.

The Prince Albert native tied for the team lead in scoring last season with 10 goals and 21 assists as he served as an alternate captain to Tanner Nagel.

“Ethan displayed great leadership towards the end of last season and throughout the summer,” said Broncos head coach Dean Brockman in a team issued release. “We are in good hands with him leading the way on and off the ice.”

“It’s a huge honour and I’m super excited to wear the ‘C’ this year,” Regnier added. “I learned from Glenn Gawdin my first year and Nagel last year. I can take what I learned from those two guys and hopefully I can do more of the same.”

The Broncos will open the 2019-2020 Western Hockey League regular season tonight when they host the Calgary Hitmen at 7 p.m.
