A pair of local athletes helped Saskatchewan to a tournament-opening win at the Football Canada Cup National Championship on Sunday.
Receiver Rhett Vavra and defensive back Ethan Kurtz helped Saskatchewan defeat Nova Scotia 37-0 in Kingston, Ontario.
Saskatchewan, the defending national champions, will now face Ontario on Wednesday in the semi-final.
Zach Cloutier will also represent Saskatchewan on the U16 team that will take part in the Western Challenge from July 13-19 in Kamloops, BC.
