Broncos drop third straight to Tigers

The Swift Current Broncos erased a three-goal deficit, but still lost 5-3 to the host Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday.

Playing their first road game since January 1, the Broncos fell behind on first-period goals from Nick McCarry, Dylan McPherson, and Brett Kemp.

They began to close the gap with a second period goal from Owen Blocker, his second of the season.

The Broncos cut into the lead again at the 8:17 mark of the third period when Ethan O’Rourke scored for a second straight night. Connor Horning fired home a power play goal 2:05 later to tie the game.

The Tigers notched the game-winner with 52 seconds left on the clock with a Trevor Longo goal and then James Hamblin scored into an empty net.

Isaac Poulter took the loss with 39 saves to fall to 2-12-0-0. Jordan Hollett made 23 saves to improve to 14-12-0-0.

The Broncos fell to 9-33-2-1, while Medicine Hat improved to 26-16-2-2 with their third win over the Broncos this season.

The Broncos are back at home on Friday against the Saskatoon Blades.
