Ardens’ unbeaten streak ends in Weyburn

The Swift Current Comp. Ardens’ Moose Jaw High School Soccer League 95-game unbeaten streak came to an end in Weyburn over the weekend.

The Ardens lost for the first time in league action since 2008 during a two-game road set against the Weyburn Eagles.

The rematch of the 2017 league final saw the perennial rivals draw 1-1. The Ardens trailed 1-0 but grade 12 midfielder Allison Wall tied the game from distance with an assist from MJ Anderson in the 75th minute.

The Ardens dropped the second game 2-1 to the Eagles. Weyburn opened the scoring for a second straight contest before Anderson finished off a Jannae Carlson set-up to tie the game in the 40th minute. Weyburn notched the game-winning goal in the 65th minute on a free kick.

The Ardens will be in Moose Jaw for a 16-team tournament next weekend.

The Colts were also in Weyburn and came home with 10-1 and 9-4 wins over the Eagles.

Felix Danquah led the Colts with four goals in the opener. Khalil Fakhar, Joel Reimer, Dilan Vargas, Kai Haubrich, London Duncan, and Jared Steinley also found the back of the net.

Danquah added five goals in the second game, followed by singles from Fakhar, Damon Koebel, Vargas, and Jaedyn Carefoot.
