The Canadian Cowboys Association was in Outlook on August 24-25 for the Riverbank Rodeo where Southwest competitors won four events.
The top Southwest showing came in Team Roping with three of the top four finishers. Waldeck’s Tuftin and Tyce McLeod won the event in 6.0 seconds for $1,252. Mankota’s Shawn Williamson and Swift Current’s Blaine Switzer were third in 7.3 seconds for $626. Scott McLeod worked with Kevin Dunham (Souris, MB) to place fourth in 8.0 seconds for $313.
The top three finishers in Junior Girls Barrel Racing came from Maple Creek. Cassidy Gordon won in 14.41 seconds for $171. Lily Wilson was second in 14.67 seconds for $128. Sydney Murphy finished third in 14.75 seconds for $85.
Wilson currently leads the season standings, while Gordon sits fourth and Murphy is seventh.
Consul’s Monty Koopman also earned an event win in Bareback with 80 points on High Voltage for $415.
Maple Creek’s Blake Link added a win in Novice Bareback with a 65-point ride for $210.
Three Southwest cowgirls finished in the money in Ladies Barrel Racing in Outlook. Swift Current’s Jane Corey was third in 14.26 seconds for $400. Mankota’s Kassidy Williamson placed fifth in 14.3 seconds for $189. Cadillac’s Brooke Lang placed sixth in 14.34 seconds for $105.
Tuftin McLeod also placed fourth in Tie Down Roping in 9.9 seconds for $124.
The CCA will be in Estevan this weekend for a two-day rodeo.
