Saskatchewan falls in opener at Lacrosse Nationals

Team Saskatchewan, featuring three players and one coach from Swift Current, lost its opening game at the Bantam Box Lacrosse National Championship in Saskatoon on Thursday.

Saskatchewan lost the opening game of the tournament 10-3 to Manitoba. Swift Current’s Marshal Clothier scored a second-period goal for Saskatchewan to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Isaac Froese and Paul Piche are also members of Team Saskatchewan, while Trenton Froese is on the coaching staff.

Things won’t get any easier for Team Saskatchewan as they face Ontario (2-0) on Friday morning. They will also face Team First Nations on Saturday. Saskatchewan concludes the round robin on Sunday against British Columbia and Nova Scotia.
