57’s tie series with Regina Red Sox

The Swift Current 57’s tied up the Western Major Baseball League best-of-five Eastern Division semi-final series with a 7-5 win over the visiting Regina Red Sox on Wednesday.

The game featured four errors by each team as the 57’s tied the series at one game apiece.

Lead-off man Blake Adams and nine-hole hitter Jared Dokey each finished with two hits, one run scored, and one run batted in for the 57’s.

The 57’s took advantage of a Regina error to score five runs in the second inning. Regina took advantage of some mistakes to tie the game with three runs in the fourth and two in the sixth.

Ruben Rodriquez brought home Nick Canas in the sixth to restore a 6-5 Swift Current lead. The 57’s added an insurance run in the seventh when Ben Komonosky walked and came around to score on an error.

Starter Joey Machado allowed three hits, three walks, and three runs, only one that was earned, over five innings.

Keil Krumwiede got the save with two scoreless innings to close things out.

Game three will be Thursday in Regina.
