Legionnaires and Wildcats victorious to conclude Mac’s round robin

Both the Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires and Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats concluded the round robin with victories at the Mac’s Midget AAA World Invitational Tournament Saturday morning in Calgary.

The Legionnaires won a second straight game with a 7-2 win over the Carolina Jr Hurricanes to finish the round robin with a 2-1-1 record.

Rin Beny led the offense with two goals and one assist, followed by a two-goal outing from Riley Dekowny and a goal and an assist from Reed Jacobson.

Lucas Ochitwa and Mason Strutt each added two assists. Mac Gross and Rhett Gibson also scored. Hendrik de Klerk, Jaden Wake, Kersey Reich, Chase Gallant, and Jacob Piller all added assists.

The Legionnaires were waiting for the last round robin games to conclude to find out if they would advance to the playoffs.

The Wildcats doubled up the Fraser Valley Rush 4-2 to finish the tournament with a 2-2 record.

Brynne Doerksen, Taylor Lind, Trista Labarowski, and Kenedee Klevgaard all scored with assists from Maddy McCleary, Toni Theaker, Layne Hryhoriw, and Baylee Kirwan. Harper Davey picked up the win with nine saves on 11 shots.
