Improved results for Swift Current entries at Mac’s Tournament

Day two was a more positive one for the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats and Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires at the Mac’s Midget AAA World Invitational Tournament.

The Wildcats got into the win column Wednesday with a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Island Seals. Kennedy Klevgaard, Carissa Hogan, and Taylor Lind all scored for the Wildcats. Amaya Giraudier picked up the win in goal with 18 saves on 19 shots. Hogan, Sara Kendall, Crystal Wale, Brooklyn Colborn, and Layne Hryhoriw all added assists as the Wildcats improved to 1-1.

The Wildcats will be off Thursday before facing the rival Regina Rebels on Friday. They will conclude the round robin on Saturday against the Fraser Valley Rush.

The Legionnaires also bounced back with a 5-5 draw against the Cariboo Cougars on Wednesday evening.

The Cougars scored the first five goals over the opening 25:57 before the Legionnaires replied with five unanswered goals over the final 30:10 of action.

Jacob Piller notched a hat trick, while Kersey Reich assisted on three goals and Ty Muench and Hunter Lamb each added a pair of assists. Rin Beny and Owen Ozar also scored, while Mac Gross and Dylan Hull each added single helpers.

Steven Duchscher allowed five goals on 16 shots in the start. Cody Levesque came on and stopped all 14 shots he faced over the final 34:03.

The Legionnaires also have Thursday day off before battling the Knights of Columbus Pats on Friday. They will round out the round robin on Saturday against the Carolina Jr Hurricanes.
