Broncos trainer receives unlikely recognition

Jamie LeBlanc

Swift Current Broncos Head Trainer and Equipment Manager Jamie LeBlanc was clearly shocked Tuesday when he received an unlikely honor.

The longtime trainer, more commonly known as ‘Butter,’ was summoned outside to an impromptu press conference featuring representatives from the Swift Current Broncos, City of Swift Current, and members of the local media where Mayor Denis Perrault unveiled a sign renaming a short stretch of pavement leading into the Innovation Credit Union iplex as ‘Butter Way.’

“Wow. That’s amazing. I don’t really have any other words than to say thank you, thank you very much,” said LeBlanc, who has been with the Broncos for 14 years. “I love this team and the work that we do here, we do it as a group and we are hoping that we can continue it on the way that things have gone so far the rest of the year with this group that we’ve got here and we can do some good things for the city hopefully come May. Thank you again.”

“It’s definitely an idea to honor, in this particular case, an unsung hero, somebody that goes above and beyond,” explained Perrault. “He actually has quite a few jobs here at the iplex working with the Broncos. And hearing what coach said as well, I know how thankful he is and how thankful the team is, I can truly say how thankful I am.”
