The Swift Current Comp. Ardens won a ninth straight Moose Jaw High School Soccer League championship Thursday.
The Ardens defeated the Weyburn Eagles 3-1 as their league unbeaten streak reached 94 games.
Grade 10 striker Jannae Carlson led the Ardens with two goals, while grade 12 captain Lauryn Hayes added a goal and an assist. Ali Vance and MJ Anderson both added assists as the Ardens improved to 16-1 overall on the season. Jaden McKenzie picked up the win in goal.
“I expected Weyburn to give us a good test and they delivered,” said longtime coach Dale Perry. “I am still trying got figure out whether we just weathered the onslaught or we responded. I think we turned it off a bit after we went up 3-0.”
The Ardens will be in Prince Albert Saturday for SHSAA 3A Regionals on Saturday needing a win over Lloydminster Holy Rosary to advance to Provincials.
